Easy 5 Ingredient Chicken Marsala

Looking for an easy dinner you can prepare ahead that everyone will love? I’m sharing my no bullshit Chicken Marsala recipe with you!.. and it only has 5 ingredients, yes really! read on..


4-6 thin chicken breasts or tenders
1 cup Washed and sliced white button mushrooms
1 bottle Marsala wine
1 cup all purpose flour
Salt and pepper for tasting and seasoning


1. Heat a large skillet with a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat, add prepared mushrooms, season and sauté with a splash of wine. Cook until browned and softened 4-6 minutes. When finished set aside on a plate- DO NOT rinse pan
2.While mushrooms cook, fill a plate with flour and season with salt and pepper
3.Coat each chicken breast in flour
4.Place in same pan with additional oil to prevent sticking and cook 4-6 minutes per side. Add wine before flipping and continue to add wine through the process
5.When all chicken is cooked, place mushrooms back in the pan with cooked chicken, additional wine, salt, and pepper. Toss over low heat until everything is coated and heated through

Serve with green and starch of your choice! We like to use broccoli and rice pilaf

To Prepare Ahead

  1. Cook mushrooms as directed in step one and two and store in heat safe bowl
  2. Follow steps two and three and refrigerate floured chicken in airtight container until ready to cook.
  3. When ready to cook follow the remaining steps and enjoy!

Notes: If your chicken breasts are thick, butterfly or pound them to be thin. Tenders or cutlets work best. Any mushroom will do, white is just what my mother used!

Out of Marsala? Mix olive oil, red wine vingear, and lemon in your pan!
